Mitzi Mayfield has practiced Civil Trial Law for over 30 years. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a member of the American College of Transportation Attorneys and the American Board of Trial Advocates.  Ms. Mayfield is currently on the TEX-ABOTA Executive Committee and former President of the Amarillo Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She is a sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Senior Life Fellow of the ABOTA Foundation.

She regularly represents clients in general civil litigation, transportation litigation, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, premises liability and products liability litigation. Ms. Mayfield also practices in the areas of oil and gas litigation and business litigation and has defended clients against intentional tort claims of libel and slander. Additionally, she has handled matters involving medical committee and medical peer review committee privileges and represented physicians, nurses and pharmacists in matters pending before the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Ms. Mayfield has been named a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly from 2009-2022 in the area of Transportation Litigation and she has been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” (Woodward White, Inc.).

Ms. Mayfield frequently lectures to lawyers, adjusters and risk management personnel at continuing education seminars and has served as course director for multiple State Bar of Texas and Texas Association of Defense Counsel continuing education seminars. Ms. Mayfield is also on the Grievance Oversight Committee appointed by the Texas Supreme Court. 

Ms. Mayfield earned her B.S. Degree from Texas Tech University in 1987 and her J.D. from Texas Tech University in 1991. She is very active in her church and community, serving on the board of Family Support Services from 2011-2017 (President 2016-2017) and is currently President of the board of the Amarillo Area Tennis Association.

Ms. Mayfield and her husband, Todd, have three children and two grandchildren. She enjoys tennis, traveling, and cooking.
