John T. Smithee, Jr.

John True Smithee, Jr. was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. After graduating from Tascosa High School, John attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated from the Mays Business School with a degree in Finance. He then went on to attend Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. 

John’s practice consists of a wide variety of civil litigation, including commercial litigation, contract disputes, deceptive trade practice claims, construction disputes and general civil litigation.

Prior to joining Underwood, John worked in both the legislative and judicial branches of government. He previously served as a law clerk for United States Senator John Cornyn on the Senate Judiciary Committee. During law school, he served as a judicial extern for United States District Judge Richard Schell. Before law school, John was an intern for Congressman Mac Thornberry in Washington, D.C.

While not working with his clients, John enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog. They love to travel and spend as much time outdoors as possible.
