David Backus has worked closely with school boards and regional education service centers throughout Texas for 30 years.
A trusted advisor to many school boards and regional education service center clients, David Backus handles a wide range of matters, including personnel contracts, constitutional law, construction, student privacy (FERPA), public funds, student attendance issues, and numerous other issues that arise in the constantly changing environment that education institutions today face. He also acts as general counsel to many educational institutions on open government laws like the Texas Public Information Act. His main goal is to help schools run more efficiently to better serve their students.
Served as general counsel for the Region 17 Education Service Center in Lubbock.
Served as senior attorney for the Texas Association of School Boards’ Legal Services Division in Austin.
Served as staff counsel and lobbyist for the Texas Association of School Administrators in Austin.
