Attorney Ann Manning Honored By Texas Legislature

Ann Manning, the managing shareholder of Underwood Law Firm’s Lubbock office was recognized during a session of the House of Representatives on March 11, 2025.

State Representative Carl H. Tepper presented House Resolution 203 in honor of Mrs. Manning’s receipt of the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Texas Tech University School of Law and her contributions to the legal community. Mrs. Manning was also honored by the Texas Senate with Senate Resolution No. 93.

For more than 35 years, Mrs. Manning has represented the Lubbock Independent School District and has earned the trust of many clients including employers, universities, churches, and financial institutions. She also has the rare distinction of being the only attorney in Lubbock, Texas, who is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Dedicated to her profession, Mrs. Manning has held a number of leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the State Bar of Texas School Law Section and serving as Chair of the Texas Council of School Attorneys. An expert on her subject matter, she is also a frequent presenter at seminars for Texas school districts on pressing legal topics.

Mrs. Manning has received numerous recognitions throughout her career including Best Lawyers® in America for Education Law and Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomas Reuters. She is also rated AV Preeminent®, the highest peer rating standard that is given to attorneys who are ranked at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards by their peers.

The recognition of Ann Manning’s contributions at the Texas Capitol was attended by legislators, colleagues, family, and community leaders. The honor serves as a testament to her lifelong dedication to the legal profession and public service.
