Underwood’s Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law Practice Group draws upon more than 75 years of collective experience in oil, gas, and mineral law matters. Thomas R. Dixon, Jr., who is Board Certified in oil, gas, and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, heads the practice group. Our oil and gas attorneys serve major oil companies and independent producers in a diverse range of legal matters from transactions to litigation in both Texas and Oklahoma.

Underwood recognizes that the examination of title records and instruments and the preparation of a thorough title opinion is an important step in a successful oil and gas venture. In addition, Underwood’s oil and gas attorneys are experienced in lease, easement, and surface damages negotiations, preparation of oil and gas contracts, and sales and acquisitions of oil and gas properties.

In collaboration with Underwood’s Litigation Practice Group, Underwood has a long-standing history of representing our energy clients in disputes and litigation involving revenue accounting, operating agreements, condemnation and surface damage appraisal actions, lease interpretation, royalty payments, and similar energy litigation matters.
