Audie Sciumbato was born in Hereford, Texas and grew up on the family farm near Summerfield. He graduated from Hereford High School and completed his B.S. degree in plant science-agronomy from West Texas A&M University. He was employed as a research assistant at Texas A&M University while earning his Master's degree, and participated in numerous field studies involving herbicide drift and efficacy. Audie served as manager of the Pesticide Fate Research Laboratory while working towards his Ph.D., supervising studies requiring pesticide detection and quantitation in both soil and water, as well as research involving herbicide drift and crop injury.
