Patrick S. Weir

Patrick Weir was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Tascosa High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. Prior to attending law school, he was employed as a legal assistant clerk at Baker Botts, L.L.P. in Houston.  Mr. Weir is Board Certified in Oil, Gas & Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Weir was named a “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Lawyer in 2010.

Practice Concentration and Experience

Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law

  • Represents clients involved in acquisition, development and exploration of oil and gas properties
  • Drafting oil and gas contracts and leases
  • Preparation of drilling and division order title opinions
  • Disputes involving title or leases issues, surface damages, sub-surface easements and royalty issues

Transactional Practice

  • Advising new businesses on entity selection
  • Formation of Corporations, Partnerships, and Limited Liability Companies
  • Resolving disputes between business owners
  • Assisting clients with the purchase or sale of a business including researching company value issues and drafting buy-sell and merger agreements
  • Drafting and negotiating general business sales and lease contracts
  • Drafting residential, commercial, and governmental leases
  • Resolving real property disputes
