Matt Sherwood’s practice consists mainly of a wide variety of civil litigation. Matt represents clients in employment litigation (including wage and hour claims, retaliation claims, and nonsubscriber litigation), commercial litigation (including contract disputes, deceptive trade practices claims, and UCC disputes), construction disputes, and general civil litigation defense. Outside the litigation context, Matt consults with employers regarding employment policies, compliance with federal and state employment laws, and employee disputes. Matt also provides legal services to construction contractors outside the litigation arena.
Since graduating from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2008, Matt has worked his entire legal career in Amarillo, Texas. He is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Despite his young legal career, Matt has already been heavily involved in litigation, having personally tried several cases in his first few years. Matt has also been personally involved in dozens of other cases, working side-by-side with several of Underwood’s experienced litigators.
Matt is married to Robin Sherwood, and they have two children together, Olivia and William. Matt and Robin both grew up in Amarillo, attended Amarillo High School, and look forward to raising their children in this community.
