James Wester

Mr. Wester’s practice is primarily focused in representing clients in the growing wind and renewable energy industries in the Texas Panhandle region and the U.S. wind corridor. The wind energy practice has involved representing stakeholders in various aspects of development and contractual negotiations, including corporate and business law. He often works with other business professionals, including accountants, brokers, consultants, business advisors, etc. in order to properly structure deals and transactions. A portion of his practice includes tax abatement agreements and tax limitations agreements, sometimes commonly referred to as Chapter 312 and 313 agreements, respectively.  As the wind energy industry is a global business, he has developed relationships with international colleagues, primarily in Europe.

A component of Mr. Wester’s practice obviously includes real estate law and transactions. In addition to renewable energy transactions, his experience has included a wide variety of legal issues relating to acquiring, financing, developing, managing, constructing, leasing and selling commercial and residential real property.

In addition, he also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting technology related agreements with both small and large companies throughout the U.S.

From 2002 to 2005, he served as a vice president and general counsel of Corporate Systems, Inc. until the successful completion of its merger with Marsh, Inc.

Mr. Wester leads the firm’s Renewable Energy Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Practice Management Committee.
