Ed Dowdy is an Amarillo native and a 1999 graduate of Tascosa High School. For his undergraduate studies, Ed attended the University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate, Ed gained valuable legislative and business experience outside the classroom by working part-time for both former State Senator Teel Bivins and The Staubach Company.
After graduating from U.T. in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business, Ed moved to Washington, D.C. to work for U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) as a legislative correspondent, and later, as a legislative aide. Ed’s position as a legislative aide allowed him to research and provide counsel and technical advice on a wide variety of policy issues ranging from ERISA and employment issues to health care and energy policies. In his third year with the Underwood Law Firm, Ed focuses his practice on government relations, employment law, and health care law.
Out of the office, Ed enjoys traveling with his wife, gardening, hunting, and mountain biking. He also enjoys volunteering for various community organizations, including serving on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle and Leadership Amarillo/Canyon.
