Underwood Law Firm Sponsors Legal Clinic By Luisa Vigil, EJVP Coordinator, Amarillo Legal Aid of Northwest Texas in Amarillo hosted a general walk-in legal clinic sponsored by the Underwood Law Firm. The event, which helped 16 low income families from the Amarillo area, was [staffed by members] of the Underwood Law Firm, which included nine associate attorneys, three paralegals, and the accounting supervisor for the firm. In addition, Elka Murphy from the Wood Law Firm also assisted at the clinic. Legal Aid wishes to thank the entire staff of Underwood Law Firm who participated including Thomas Feighney, Joel Griffith, D. Chris Harkins, Robert Wade King, Nicholas Nevarez, Jr., Patrick S. Weir, Matthew Whitten, Misti Janes, Christopher Wrampelmeier, Rhonda Brashears, and Darleen Cheverier. Of the clients who came to the two hour clinic, all were seen by attorneys and a pro bono case was taken that day by Nicholas Nevarez. Chris Wrampelmeier, who is a [shareholder in the] Underwood Law Firm, was pleased with the results of their first sponsored clinic. "Underwood is honored to have provided legal assistance for 16 people who attended the clinic at the Wesley Community Center," Wrampelmeier said. "The firm encourages its attorneys and legal assistants to give back to the community through pro bono legal services." According to Luisa Vigil, the Coordinator for Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, the firm has discussed plans to sponsor another clinic in the future.
