On January 22, 2008 the Underwood Law Firm sponsored a general legal clinic presented by Legal Aid of Northwest Texas at the Wesley Community Center. In a two-hour time span, the attorneys and paralegals of the Underwood Law Firm, assisted by Legal Aid, provided legal advice to 18 people. That is a very high number for a single clinic. This success would not have been possible without the hard work of the following people:

  • Paralegals Rhonda Brashears and Misti Janes conceived the idea of the Underwood Law Firm sponsoring the clinic with Luisa Vigil of Legal Aid and did the intake of the clients. Rhonda is the President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas' Paralegal Division. Misty is the District 7 Director of the State Bar of Texas' Paralegal Division.
  • Paralegal Laura Powers also did intake of clients and ran conflicts checks. Laura is the President of NALS of Amarillo, the association for legal professionals.
  • Accountant Darleen Cheverier remained at the firm's office to run conflicts checks.
  • Our associates Thomas Feighny, Joel Griffith, Chris Harkins, Wade King, Nick Nevarez, Audie Sciumbato, Patrick Weir, and Matthew Whitten staffed the clinic, heard the stories of the clients, and guided them through their issues.
