Underwood Attorney Presentation on New IDEA Regulations Monday, October 23, 2006 In August of 2006, the U.S. Department of Education released the highly anticipated final regulations to Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Underwood attorney Andrea Gulley presented a legal update on October 11, 2006, at the Region 16 Education Service Center in Amarillo. Ms. Gulley focused on changes set forth in the new Regulations and the requirements of the IDEA, which was re-authorized in 2004. Some of the "hot topics" covered in the presentation included: the new rules on amending IEPs, the make-up of IEP teams, discipline, manifestation determinations, eligibility, evaluations and child find.
