Important Election Deadlines

May 10th will be here before we know it. A number of deadlines are quickly approaching, including:

Monday, March 10, 2008

  • Regular Filing Deadline. (See Texas Election Code sec. 143.007(a) & 144.005(a); Texas Education Code sec. 11.055; Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 286.)
  • Deadline to Order General Election.* (See Texas Election Code sec. 3.005.)

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

  • Deadline to deliver notice of the election to the county clerk of each county in which the political subdivision is wholly or partly located. (See Texas Election Code sec. 4.008.)

Monday, March 17, 2008

  • Deadline for write-in candidates to file declarations of write-in candidacy for certain political subdivisions, including cities, school districts, and hospital districts.*
