A Starr County jury has found against a plaintiff who was injured when the truck in which he was a passenger struck a cow. In 2005, the Plaintiff, Jaime Garza, was a passenger in a truck that hit a cow that had gotten loose from property owned by Defendant Jerry's Rentals & Specialty. Mr. Garza suffered spinal cord injuries and fractures, spending several months in the hospital. The property owner defended the case in part by contending that it reported the runaway cow as soon as it became aware of the problem.
It is not yet known whether an appeal will be filed.
