It is always a pleasure for our attorneys to participate in local events in the communities the we serve. Courtney Morris, our attorney who primarily practices in our Hereford office, got the opportunity to judge the cattle showmanship contest for the Hereford Cattle Women at the 2007 Hereford Livestock Show. This is Courtney's third year to be involved with this project. Since she also showed cattle in her youth, she especially enjoys getting to work with the kids at this event. The judging is based on three criteria: (1) each contestant must submit a written summary of their project, (2) the panel then interviews the contestant, and (3) the contestants are judged on their ability to present the cattle to the livestock judge.

Hereford Cattle Women (HCW) is a local chapter of Texas Cattle Women. HCW's mission is to help promote the beef cattle industry. HCW sponsors other events, including offering two scholarships annually to youth who plan to earn a college degree in an agricultural field of study, cooking hamburgers and steak-on-a-stick at local events, participating in charitable events such as the Festival of Trees, and donating beef certificates to the Christmas Stocking Fund.

Membership in HCW is not limited to Hereford residents. If you are interested in joining Hereford Cattle Women, please contact Courtney.
